Return of Juraj

February 17, 2021

Raiders are delighted to welcome back free scoring Slovakian  import Juraj Huska for his sixth season in Gold and Blue. Juraj is a four time NIHL highest goals scorer and one time highest points scorer.

In his five seasons  for the Raiders, Juraj has scored 272 goals and 232 assists for 504 points in 231 Raiders appearances. His points include 33 hat tricks or more in a game. Juraj is ranked 4h in all time points scoring and 4th in all time goals scored). His 231 appearances see him ranked 19th in all time appearances for Raiders, immediately behind JJ Pitchley.

Juraj started his career in his native Slovakia for his home town team HKM Zvolen before moving to USA for a brief stay for Winston-Salem Icehawks before returning to play in Slovakia. Juraj moved to Zagreb for a season in IEL before arriving n England where he scored 55 points in 42 games for Telford Tigers. After a season in France and two further in Slovakia he arrived in Romford.

After winning league and cup honours with Romford he moved to Invicta for two seasons; and then to Chelmsford for two seasons where he picked up more league, cup and play-off winners medals. After two seasons with Raiders he moved to Invicta for last season but now returns to Raiders for the Spring Cup.

The club were pleased to have someone of Juraj’ pedigree to call upon.

“We all know what we get with Juraj. A smooth skating free scoring forward who seems to raise the game of his line mates.

“There are a few more grey hairs these days but the experience that has pushed these to the surface is going to be invaluable as Raiders face some pretty impressive teams during the course of this cup.

“He certainly will need no introducing to most of his team mates and I am sure will be looking forward to linking up again with some players he has shared a number of goals and assists with.”

There are few more familiar with Juraj game than Coach Sean Easton who had this to say about the Slovakian sniper

“A legend in Romford, well known and well respected. Huska agreed to join the Raiders for the Spring Series when we found out Lukas Sladkovsky’s paper work would take a minimum of 3 months to be completed before he could arrive.

“Huska has always been a goal scoring threat, put up points everywhere he has been. We will be looking for Huskas experience and calm head in what will be a very tough competition.”

Juraj is a man of action rather than words as he demonstrated.

“I’m glad to be back with Raiders again and play a few games during the lockdown. I know almost all the boys and I hope we will make some good results”

We are now looking forward to the action side of that statement.

Welcome back Juraj!
