Young Talent Max Lewis Signs with Raiders & Buccs

The Romford Raiders are pleased to welcome 20-year-old defenceman Max Lewis, who returns to the UK after four seasons of development and competition in North America. Max signs on a two-way deal that will see him ice for both the Raiders and the Romford Buccaneers this season.

Having come through the junior systems in both Chelmsford and Romford, Max is no stranger to local hockey and now returns ready to make an impact at senior level.

Raiders Head Coach Jason Buckman commented, “Max joins us on a 2 Way with Buccaneers after some time in the US. From what I’ve seen already, I’m confident he is more than capable of making the National League step up with Raiders. I can’t wait to start working with him and I’m looking forward to seeing him develop.”

Max added, “I’m excited to join both the Raiders and Buccaneers and to be back home, where I can focus on developing on and off the ice while surrounded by familiar faces. It’s a great opportunity to contribute to two strong programs and push my game to the next level. I’m looking forward to the season ahead and the challenges that come with it.”

Palmer’s Back For More

Tom Palmer Returns for Second Season as a Raider

The Raiders are delighted to announce that 23-year-old forward Tom Palmer will be returning for his second season with the team!

Tom joined the Raiders from the Peterborough Phantoms on transfer deadline day, making his debut in gold and blue on 1st February 2025. In his first stint with the club, he quickly established himself as a reliable presence on the ice, making 22 appearances and contributing 2 goals and 6 assists for 8 points.

Before his move to Romford, as we said, Tom iced for the Peterborough Phantoms, notching the same stat line — 2 goals and 6 assists — across 36 appearances. He also made a single Elite League appearance for the Nottingham Panthers, showcasing his potential at the highest level of British ice hockey.

Head Coach Jason Buckman commented, ‘It’s good to have Tom back in the lineup. He brought a solid work ethic to the team last year and can play across the lineup, which gives the team more depth. I know he will be looking to build on last season and make a real impact from the start.’

A hardworking and versatile player, Tom impressed fans and coaches alike with his commitment, composure, and playmaking ability in the second half of the season. We’re excited to see what he can bring over a full campaign in 2025/26.

Welcome back, Tom!

Welcome Back Mikey

Power Returns to the Gold and Blue!

The Romford Raiders are thrilled to announce the return of forward Mikey Power, who re-joins the club after a season with the Chelmsford Chieftains.

Mikey’s hockey journey began in the junior ranks of Slough and Swindon, where he developed under the Okanagan Hockey Academy. His passion and determination for the game took him across the Atlantic, spending three valuable seasons in the United States competing in the WSHL, further sharpening his skillset.

On returning to the UK, Mikey stepped into senior hockey with the Bracknell Bees before making a mid-season move to Milton Keynes. In 2022, Mikey first joined the Gold and Blue of Romford, quickly becoming a fan favourite thanks to the physical edge he brought to the game.

Last season, Mikey made a big impact in Essex, scoring 28 goals and assisting 43 for the Chieftains during the regular season, showing his offensive threat and consistency.

Head Coach Jason Buckman commented on his return:

“It’s great to see Mikey back in the Gold and Blue. He can comfortably play at National League level and brings a different dimension to the lineup. His physical presence on the ice and his ability to find the net brings even more depth this year.”

Mikey’s return adds another exciting layer to the Raiders’ 2025/26 season, and we can’t wait for the season to get started.

Welcome back, Mikey!
