Miller Is Back!

RAIDERS WELCOME BACK FIREPOWER SENSATION SHAUN MILLER

#95 Shaun Miller is back in Gold & Blue!

The 26-year-old forward returns for his second season with the Romford Raiders after a jaw-dropping debut year that lit up the NIHL National league and saw him quickly become a fan favourite at the Sapphire.

Miller’s impact last season was nothing short of sensational – clocking 60 appearances, racking up 55 goals and 68 assists for a monster 123 points. Those stats not only placed him comfortably inside the Top 50 all-time Raiders point scorers but also marked the best single-season performance by a Raider in 12 years.

This didn’t go unnoticed with Millsy receiving Supporters’ Player of the Year, Top Forward, and Top Scorer at the fans End of Season Awards, and also claiming First Line All-Star in the League Awards and Shortlisted for NIHL National Player of the Year

Head Coach Jason Buckman was thrilled to secure his return:

“Getting Millsy back was key this season. After his success last year, he was a sought-after player by every team in the league. Speaking with him throughout the summer, it became clear he loves playing in Romford – and in the end, it was an easy decision for him. I’m looking forward to working with him when he returns to the UK.”

Welcome back, Shaun “Millsy” Miller!

Kazaks, Maskalans & Woolmore commit to the Buccaneers for 2025/26

The Romford Buccaneers are delighted to confirm that Artjoms Kazaks, Nils Maskalans, and Shay Woolmore have all officially signed for the upcoming 2025/26 season.

All three forwards will also be on two-way contracts with the Romford Raiders, highlighting the strength of the development pathway within the Romford Hockey structure.

Artjoms Kazaks enters his fourth season in Buccaneers colours, a player who’s grown in confidence and stature year after year. Now 19, Kazaks is coming off a strong campaign and will continue to be a key figure. With a full season ahead and more experience under his belt, we’re expecting big things from this talented dual-national.

Nils Maskalans made an impact in his first season with the Buccs after joining from Belfast. The 17-year-old Latvian showed his offensive talent with 27 points in 31 games, along with an impressive ability to stir things up on the ice. He’s fast, fearless, and focused – a player with the skills to be a game-changer.

Shay Woolmore returns to the Buccs as one of the most exciting local prospects in recent years. Having spent a season in Austria with Okhanagan he rejoined Romford U18s on his return in 2023. Shay made an immediate impact when stepping up to senior hockey. He broke into the Buccaneers lineup at just 16 and made his Raiders debut last season. Shay will be looking to play a big part in our 2025/26 campaign.

All three signings represent exactly what the Buccaneers are about – creating opportunity, encouraging growth, and pushing players to the next level. We are proud to see their hard work rewarded with Raider’s recognition, but even prouder to have them locked in and ready to battle for the Buccaneers.

Head Coach Ethan commented “I’m excited to work with these two way guys. Having seen them at training and in game situations last season, they have a lot of potential. Hopefully with hard work and focusing on the finer details of the game they will reach the next level they are keen to achieve.”

Buccs Sign Two-Ways

BUCCANEERS TRIO SIGN TWO-WAY DEAL WITH RAIDERS

Romford Raiders are pleased to announce forwards Artjoms Kazaks, Nils Maskalans, and Shay Woolmore will be joining the Romford Raiders on two-way contracts for the upcoming season, while continuing their development with the Romford Buccaneers.

This move reflects the strength of the club’s development pathway, offering young talent the opportunity to test themselves at the next level while staying key contributors in the NIHL1 Buccaneers setup.

Artjoms Kazaks returns for his fourth season in Romford and second as a prospective Raider. The 19-year-old dual-national forward has steadily developed into a standout player with exciting potential. Known for his work ethic and smart offensive play, Artjoms continues to prove he has what it takes to become a future star.

Nils Maskalans made an immediate impact after arriving from Belfast last season. The 17-year-old Latvian forward notched 27 points in 31 games for the Buccs and impressed with his skill, speed, and ability to frustrate opponents. His fearless style and creative edge make him one to watch.

Shay Woolmore, a proud local product, rounds off the trio. Shay returned to Romford U18’s after a year in Austria with Okanagan back in 2023 and wasted no time stepping up to senior hockey the minute he was eligible. A former Chelmsford junior, Shay joined the Buccs at 16 and made his Raiders debut last season—showcasing his potential and composure well beyond his years.

Raiders Head Coach Buckman commented on the trio ““Having Shay, Artjoms and Nils return to Buccs this coming season was key for the club, they showed massive improvement last year and no better way to reward their progression than being on a 2-way with Raiders.

I look forward to seeing them grow further and really establish themselves this coming season and push for more Raiders game time”

Romford Hockey, are proud to offer our junior players a clear pathway to senior hockey, helping them sharpen their skills and grow into the next generation of Raiders.

Congratulations to Artjoms, Nils, and Shay — we look forward to seeing your continued progress in both Buccs and Raiders colours this season!

Sonny & Max Are Back

Romford Buccaneers Secure Netminding Duo for 2025/26 Season

The Romford Buccaneers are delighted to announce that goaltenders Sonny Phillips and Max Van Mullem have signed for the 2025/26 season.

A fan favourite for both his big saves and bigger personality, Sonny has been a cornerstone between the pipes since joining Romford and brings with him a wealth of experience.

Joining him in the crease is 17-year-old Max Van Mullem, who will be with the Buccaneers on a two-way agreement with the Romford Raiders. Max has already shown on many occasions that he has the ability to be a starting goalie, pulling off saves beyond his years. This hot prospect will undoubtedly benefit from working alongside Raiders netminding duo Cole Ceci and Owen Rider, making him one to watch for the future.
