Tjay Is Back

The Raiders are pleased to announce that Tjay Anderson has signed a new deal with the newly rebranded Romford Raiders ahead of the 24/25 season.

Tjay has developed his talent through the Romford Junior system and has become a key player for the Raiders.

Following the signing of player/coach Adam Laishram, it was clear that Tjay would return to the gold and blue army, having built strong chemistry on the top line together.

Tjay had a breakout season at the National level, reaching 52 points in 62 appearances, scoring 29 goals, including a few hat tricks, and assisting 23. He also featured for the Buccaneers last season, where he scored 9 goals in just 4 games.

Tjay is a great addition to the Raiders as he is a young player with huge potential and an abundance of skills, poised to become a standout player in this league. He first broke onto the scene for the Raiders in the 22/23 playoff semifinals at Coventry against the Sheffield Steeldogs, where he scored 2 fantastic goals to help his side reach the final. This performance allowed him to gain the confidence to showcase his talent, which he did throughout this season.

Here We Go!

Former Memorial Cup winner Laishram announced as Player/Coach

Romford Ice Hockey Club are thrilled to announce that Adam Laishram, the former Memorial Cup winner and last season’s top point scorer, will be joining the team as Player/Coach for the 2024/25 season.

The 27-year-old racked up a team leading 105 points in 57 appearances (53 goals, 52 assists) for the club last season and iced as injury cover during the 2022-23 season on 12 occasions, picking up 20 points (10 goals, 10 assists).

In season 2021/22, Laishram iced for Milton Keynes Lightning where he made 61 appearances, scoring 21 goals and 31 assists for 52 points.

Prior to arriving in England, the centreman played in USports in Canada for St. Francis Xavier University where in three seasons he made 77 appearances, scoring 18 goals and 15 assists for 33 points.

Laishram also played his junior career in Ontario, playing AAA at Whitby Wildcats before progressing to OHL where in four seasons playing for Belleville Bulls, Hamilton Bulldogs and Windsor Spitfires, scored 38 goals and 56 assists for 94 points in 240 appearances.

One of his biggest milestones was winning the Memorial Cup with Windsor Spitfires.

As our new Player/Coach, Laishram will bring his extensive experience and leadership to both the locker room and the ice.

“We are beyond excited to have Adam Laishram take on this new challenge with our new look club,” a club spokesman said. “His track record speaks for itself, and his ability to excel both as a player and a leader makes him the perfect fit for this role.”

“We’re confident that his contributions will elevate our team’s performance and foster a winning culture.”

Adam Laishram shared his enthusiasm about the new opportunity: “I am honoured to take on the role of Player/Coach for Romford. Having witnessed the passion and emotion from the fans after getting the name back during last year’s playoffs, I knew I wanted to be a part of the group helping keep national league hockey in Romford. This is an exciting time for hockey in Romford, this team has great potential and I am motivated to contribute both on and off the ice. I look forward to working with the coaching staff and my teammates to achieve our goals this season.”

With season ticket information due to be shared shortly, Laishram was keen to get the message across to the fans that they will once again play a big part this season “It will great to get back to The Sapphire and play in front of what the team believes are the best fans in the league. We need you fans to make it a loud and difficult place for visiting teams to come play in, as many opposing players already admit. With our late start to recruitment, we will need your support more than ever before, but as one we can achieve our goals.”
